Why do we strive to do coffee so well?

At Grounds and Gold, we strive to serve the best quality coffee by being intentional about brewing. This means our focus is on highlighting the time and effort that goes into our specialty coffee before it ever reaches our hands.

All great coffee starts with farmers. These people and their families dedicate their lives to perfecting their approach to farming the highest quality coffee possible. In order to really understand the value these farmers hold in the specialty coffee process; you must first understand where the coffee bean comes from.

Coffee starts off as a seed in the middle of a cherry found on a coffee plant. As stated, before coffee can only be grown in select altitudes and climates. These plants will be nursed for years before ever reaching their first harvest and once they reach ripeness the farmers will handpick each plant. It should be noted that each coffee plant produces about one pound of green coffee beans. The coffee will then be processed and while there are various ways to do so, the most common ways are, washed, natural, honey, anaerobic, swiss water decaf and ethyl acetate. The process type really depends on the countries and their access to water. Countries who have water sources can use a variety of processing methods while other countries

that lack easy access to water tend to use a natural process where the cherries are laid out on beds to dry up by the sun.

These farmers are diligent about the coffee process because, for them, it is quality not quantity that is the most important consideration. That is why it is imperative that they connect with quality-minded buyers who understand their labor and can ensure a higher profit option which supports individuals, families, and communities around the world.
